5 Affordable Seafood Restaurants in Batam  

 

 

Batam is a brief hour-long ferry journey from Singapore, and other than sandy beaches and watersports actions, it’s also home to a variety of seafood restaurants with fresh fish, crab, and shellfish. You may elect to dine at the many kelongs readily available, or in an air-conditioned space restaurant with a live band and perspectives of the ocean. But whichever you choose, you can make sure that you’ll be paying for your meal more than in Singapore.

  1. Barelang Seafood Restaurant — kelong design restaurant having an air-conditioned room

At Barelang Seafood Restaurant, it is possible to dine at an air-tight room or the over-water dining area with views of the ocean. The fish here is caught from the ocean minutes before your meal, so it is filled with freshness. Attempt their steamed grouper 83k IDR (~S$8) and lobster for 286k IDR (~S$27.50).

Otherwise, there are several crab meals available, for example, Salted Egg Mud Crab, Steamed Crab, or Chilli Crab at 102k IDR (~S$9.80).

  1. Love Seafood Piayu — massive seafood steamboat

Move all out at Love Seafood Piayu with the Jumbo Steamboat in 385k IDR (~S$37) that’s very great for six people, also feast on an array of fresh fish including prawns, crabs and gong gong. If that’s still too much, you can order Black Pepper Crab or Chilli Crab at 117k IDR (~S$11.20).

The dining area is clean with rotating lovers and views of the sea. You may even watch as the food is being caught — that’s how fresh it is!

  1. Wey Wey Live Seafood – live band performances

Head to Wey Wey Live Seafood for outside seating with views of the ocean, and enjoy live music while you admire the sunset. Head’s up, you may want to get here earlier on weekends as it gets packaged after 7 PM.

This restaurant offers Hot Plate Tofu in 42k IDR (~S$4) along with Salted Egg Squid at 42k IDR (~S$4).

Otherwise, try their Crab in Padang Sauce, that is crab cooked in sweet and hot gravy or their Salted Egg Crab in 115k IDR (~S$11). The crabs here are giant, meaty and are served with plenty of sauce.

  1. Golden Prawn 933 Seafood Restaurant — big sheltered seating area for big groups

Golden Prawn 933 Seafood Restaurant has a big sheltered dining area that’s excellent for adapting large collections. It serves various dishes like Chilli Crab and Black Pepper Crab at 89k IDR (~S$8.58). Their chilli crab includes a deep rendang-like flavour that sets it apart from our Singaporean chilli crab.

New Sea Prawns are also on the menu at 69k IDR (~S$6.60), where you can opt to have them steamed or chucked in Chinese Wine Sauce.

  1. Kopak Jaya 007 Kelong Seafood Restaurant — with sea-facing photo place

Kopak Jaya 007 Kelong Seafood Restaurant, serves up dishes like Gong gong at 70k IDR (~S$6.73) whereas some plates of kangkung that’s fantastic for sharing prices 46k IDR (~S$4.40) (medium). Alternately, try their seafood fried rice in 60k IDR (~S$5.77) (medium) or fried bee hoon at 60k IDR (~S$5.77) (medium).

The crabs here are priced at 116k IDR (~S$11.20). If you want to own it with gravy, make the Chilli Crab, which will be swimming in a thick, tangy sauce. But should you prefer your crabs without dressing, then you can elect for the salted egg crab that’s the dry selection.
